TRACK FEES MUST BE PAID BEFORE RACING AT THE MCCOOK
TRACK-Family track fees are $30.00 and single track fees are $20.00. Everyone
inside the pit area are required to have a pit pass which is $5.00.
RACING RULES: IKF Rules with subject to tech. If a monster
bumper is not
used, 80% of back tires need to be covered. Mufflers not required.
No yearly points will be kept.(call for full set of Thunderhead Racing Rules)
CLASSES:
Fun-Karts - ages 5 & up (racing karts are required)
JR I - 235 minimum weight - ages 8-11 (blue restrictor plate)
JR II - 285 minimum weight - ages 12-15 (red restrictor
plate)
Stock Medium- 335 minimum weight - 16 & up

2004 THUNDERHEAD RACING ASSOCIATION LOCAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
2004 IKF rules and following local rules as allowed by the IKF Rule Book will be followed.
1. NO ALCOHOLIC beverages on premises.
2. Any participant found not enforcing the rules or found to be abusing track privileges or facilities, using abusive language, showing poor sportsmanship, or not following rules of IKF, shall be brought before the Board of Directors to determine if track rights shall be suspended or revoked for the remainder of the racing season. Penalties for engine violations will be listed in rule #4.
3. Engine Protest: There will be an engine protest at the track. To protest an engine, a racer racing in a feature race must within 10 minutes of the of said feature, present an officer of Thunderhead Racing an envelope containing $50.00 cash and the number of the protested Kart. Protested Kart must have raced in same feature, must have finished in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd and must have finished ahead of driver protesting. Protester must have finished the race. Pit crew and others in pits or spectators may not file a protest. The $50.00 protest fee will be split in the following manners, $15.oo to Engine Tech, and $35.00 to Protester if engine is found illegal. Teardown will be done as set forward in the IKF Rule book.
4. Illegal Engines and Penalties: If found illegal, Drivers will lose all prizes for that day and be suspended for the next race for 1st offense. If a driver is found with an illegal engine a 2nd time in the same race year he/she will be disqualified for 1 year from date of being found illegal for the 2nd time.
5. Practice days: will be arranged by the Officers. One officer must be at all practice sessions and may not participate in the practice. Practice days are open to anyone who has paid their track fees.

(age 11 is an optional year when drivers may run JR I or JR II )

(age 15 is an optional year when drivers may run JR II or Adult)
STOCK MEDIUM 16-UP 345#MIN
COMPETITION AGE IS THE AGE OF THE DRIVER OF JAN. 1 OF THE CURRENT CALENDAR RACE YEAR.
FUN KART: This class is designed to give young drivers some track experience without having other karts on the track. Drivers must be at least 5 years old. Karts must be manufactured for racing. No home made karts will be allowed. Karts with run 2 warm up laps and 4 race laps. Proper clothing is required (see rule #12)
7. Competitive Karts will have disc or drum brakes, which are working properly.
8. Engine Requirements: as per IKF Rule Book, except on mufflers required.
9. Fuel Requirements: alcohol or alcohol with upper lube additive.
10. Cometic Head Gasket allowed- .043 Rule is still in effect.
11. After market valve spring retainers are allowed.
12. Clothing. It will be mandatory for any person/child, while on a Kart on the track, to wear proper clothing and safety equipment.

F. Lined Jacket (No windbreakers)
13. Track Fees
A. TRACK FEES WILL BE REQUIRED to race with the Thunderhead Racing Association. Racing track fees are as follows:
1. Family track fee- $30.00
2. Single person track fee-$20.00 per racer
Track fees provide access to any scheduled practice, club runs and all races.
There will be no drivers fees, but instead everyone will be required to have a pit-pass, which will be $5.00 pre person per race.
All spectators who are in the pits will require a pit-pass and will be charged the $5.00 fee. Spectators may watch from outside the pit area for free.
14. Drivers
A. All drivers must sigh in before unloading Karts
B. Drivers will draw a pill to determine starting positions for the 1st heat and the order will be inverted for the 2nd heat. All features will be determined by point average of the 2 heats from that day..
C. All drivers will attend pre-race drivers meeting.
D. All drivers must start both heats to accumulate average for the feature
E. No running engines on pit road in-rout to start line or en-route to pits from track.
F. Drivers must use save driving techniques while on track NO BUMPING OR BANGING WILL BE ALLOWED.
G. All first year drivers in any class must start in the back for 2 races unless otherwise cleared.
15. Karts
A. Karts shall be only those manufactured for racing.
B. Drivers shall have 90 seconds to get kart started at start area, 90 seconds to get mechanical problem fixed under yellow. If a driver causes two yellow flags in the same race, the third time he will be disqualified.
C. Any Kart needing assistance on the track will go to the back, except due to avoiding an accident. Flagman have the final voice.
16. Points and Awards
A. There will be no points kept.
B. Some kind of award will be given to racer after each race. (We may not have prizes for adults.)
