A little note to all, The IMCA requires all drivers 18 and under to get their license from the IMCA office and not at the track. Young drivers need to have their license before they come to the track, as we can not sell one to persons 18 and younger.

Also all young drivers must have the minor release and waiver of liability and indemnity form filled out and notarized before coming to the track. We do not have a Notary at the track and if it is not filled out and notarized, we can not let you race, per IMCA and our insurance company.

The new sport compact class will be run with the mini trucks. The 2008 season will not be a Sanctioned IMCA class, but will follow the IMCA rules.

Last year, McCook Speedway promoter Chuck Gray had many schedule changes to make before the season started. This year, the changes will be in the classes that race on the action-sized 3/8-mile dirt track. The primary classes, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, and IMCA Hobby Stocks, will all remain as they were last year, with the exception of whatever changes the International Motor Contest Association has made. A new class will be added for this season, the SportMod class, and it will rotate with the Classic Modifieds and Mini-Trucks. Although they may seem similar to the IMCA Modified, the SportMods willl have some differences in body panels and spoilers, run a motor package similar to the IMCA Hobby Stocks, and have fewer suspension change possibilities than the Modifieds. The Mini-Truck class has an adjustment to it as well. All legal IMCA Sport Compact cars will be allowed to run with the Trucks (but they will not be sanctioned.)

Opening night will be Friday, April 4, weather permitting. With the exception of the Saturday part of Thunder on the Plains, June 21, and the Red Willow County Fair Races, July 24, races will be on Friday nights. Among some of the activities this year will include the return of the two-night Thunder on The Plains on Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21. The URSS Sprint Cars will make a visit on June 13, a night that will also be a NAPA Night at The Races for Hobby Stock class. McCook Speedway's Racer Memorial Night will be on June 27, and August 15 will mark the 6th annual running of the Don and Ruth Hagan, Sr. Memorial races. Championship night will be on Friday night, August 22.

The gates will open each racing Friday night at 6 PM Central Time, with the races starting at 8 PM Central Time. The Saturday, June 21 show will start at 7 PM Central Time, with the gates opening at 5 PM. Admission for all regular shows is $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children 6 - 12, and free for children 5 and under. Pit passes are $20.00. On the June 13 URSS Sprint show night, admission will be $10.00 for adults, $6.00 for children 6 - 12, and free for children 5 and under. Information regarding prices, times, and classes for the July 24 fair race are yet to be determined by the Red Willow County Ag Society.

McCook Speedway is on the Red Willow County Fairgrounds in the northwestern region of McCook, on the corner of West 5th and “O” Streets.
